Head of Brand & Communications
SALARY £70,000 - £75,000
The Role:
This is an excellent opportunity to shape the brand and communications strategy of a highly respected, independent engineering consultancy known for its design-led approach and commitment to the built environment.
This is a senior, strategic marketing role with a broad remit—from leading on brand and business development strategy to managing a small in-house team and creating high-quality content and collateral. You’ll play a crucial part in how the business tells its story, wins new work, and builds its profile across the UK.
While the company works internationally, this role is focused primarily on their UK business. It’s a great opportunity for someone with industry knowledge (engineering, architecture, or similar) who enjoys working in an ambitious but considered environment. This is not a typical corporate marketing role—it’s about being embedded in the projects and helping to tell those stories thoughtfully and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead a joined-up marketing, brand, communications and business development strategy.
Collaborate closely with senior leaders to ensure consistency of message and quality of output.
Lead all external communications, including social media, PR and thought leadership.
Act as a brand guardian across the wider group, helping to align communications across offices.
Oversee the creation of high-quality project case studies, bids, awards submissions and BD decks.
Lead, develop and mentor the marketing and bids team.
Identify what skills are missing in the team and shape future hires accordingly.
Work closely with directors on materials and prep for business development meetings/events.
Key Skills:
A strategic thinker with experience leading brand, communications or business development within the built environment (engineering, architecture, design or similar).
Someone who brings insight and structure to how a company wins work and builds profile.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with a knack for presenting complex information clearly.
Positive, calm and collaborative—able to bring people with them, not bulldoze through change.
Happy to be hands-on while also setting long-term direction.
